Pros and cons of staying in Goryu Pros: • Beginners slopes and lessons easily accessible at bottom of mountain. • Cheap compared to staying in Happo • Good range of accommodation Cons • Rather isolated, not too many bars and restaurants • Difficult to get to the other ski resorts- you are completely reliant on the Hakuba Valley Shuttle bus . • No supermarkets or convenience shops nearby. Where to stay in Goryu? If you are going to stay at Goryu and you want to visit other ski resorts besides Goryu, it is best if your accommodation is near Escal plaza in order that you can catch the Hakuba Valley Shuttle bus which leaves every hour or so from Escal to Happo, Iwatake and Tsugaike. If your accommodation is down the bottom of the hill (everything is downhill of Escal), then it can take up to 30 mins to make the hike.
